You are invited to attend Estehaagse Ensemble live in concert at Home of Art The Hague on September 7 from 19.00h.
The name Estehaagse ensemble is a play on ‘Esterhazy’, the palace where Haydn worked, and ‘Haagse’, meaning of Den Haag, the city where the ensemble is based. It was founded by baroque violinists James Hewitt (graduated a few years ago from the Royal Conservatory of Den Haag with Pavlo Beznoziuk, and now teacher of historical improvisation there), and Xiangji Zeng (currently studying at the Royal Conservatory with Lucy van Dael). They work together regularly as duo, but also as a trio with cellist Tomas Kardosl, and as a baroque trio sonata ensemble with lute and keyboard instruments. Repertoire ranges from the seventeenth to early nineteenth centuries, and the ensemble plays in venues ranging from churches throughout the Netherlands to private living room concerts.
James Hewitt (violin & viola) performed at Home of Art Amsterdam several times, with different ensembles and collaborations, e.g. Young Blood Initiative and The Scroll Ensemble. On September 7 James and Xiangji Zeng (violin & viola) will bring us their current programme of Baroque and classical chamber music violin duos by Mozart, Stamitz, Viotti, and Leclair.
