Sofie de Klerk (Rotterdam, 1992) is a very diverse accordionist and singer. We are glad to invite you to join her concert at art gallery Home of Art at 07-07 from 18.00h.
Sofie enjoyed her classical Bachelor's degree at the Royal Conservatory of The Hague where she currently follows The Music Master for New Audiences and Innovative Practice (NAIP), studying with An Raskin. She participated in many collaborations in various music theater projects; among others, Salone del l'opera, the Rotterdam opera days and Opéra Mosset (France). The collaboration with opera singers and the translation of the repertoire to accordion and the contemporary zeitgeist opened a very inspiring door. Voice and accordion work together excellently and in October 2016 Sofie took the step to try this out. She participated in the Amsterdam Cabaret Festival with her own songs and classic anecdotes. The jury had the following to say about this: “Sofie has a very authentic stage personality and a huge dose of courage!"
In her one woman performance Sofie combines classical music with French chansons, own compositions and golden oldies. The mix and reductions make this performance very unique, accessible and entertaining. She plays this program in small theaters, festivals and in living rooms.
In addition to this solo program, together with Mattia Petrogalli, Sofie forms the duo:” LaForla”; a combination of Bas trombone and Accordion which is very unique in the Netherlands and even in Europe. The melancholy that both instruments know how evoke and the fact that both are wind instruments makes this duo a success.
Furthermore, Sofie continues to create new operas with different opera singers. She plays with them in pubs and living rooms. With Berend & de Klerk she will even play on a lighthouse island next to Amsterdam during the “Grachtenfestival”.
